Terms of Use

Last updated: October 20, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Dog Identifier, the app for iPhone and Android listed as "Dog Scanner—Breed Identifier" on the App Store and "Dog Identifier—Breed Scanner" on Google Play (the "app").

The app is provided by Wellcode S.r.l.s., Via Reggio 5/A, 42015 Correggio (RE), Italy, VAT no. IT02956860353 ("Wellcode", "we", "us"). By using the app you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

1. What the app is — and what it is not

Dog Identifier names the breed of a dog from a photo. You take a photo or pick one from your library, the app sends it to an artificial intelligence service, and shows you the most likely breed, how confident it is, the closest alternatives and general information about the breed: size, temperament, care, training and facts.

The answers are generated automatically by an AI model and are an estimate based on what can be seen in the photo. They can be wrong, incomplete or inconsistent, in particular for mixed breeds, puppies, unusual angles or poor light, and the same dog can get different answers from different photos. In particular:

2. Who can use the app

You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need the permission of a parent or guardian to buy a subscription. There is no account: the app works on your device, and your history stays there.

3. Free use and Dog Identifier Pro

The app can be used for free, within a limit of scans per day shown in the app. A free scan may show only part of the answer, also when you reopen it from the history. Dog Identifier Pro unlocks unlimited scans, the full answer every time and answers from a more capable AI model; the current list of what Pro includes is shown in the app before you buy.

Purchase, renewal and cancellation

Refunds and right of withdrawal

Refund requests are handled by the store you bought from, under its policies: Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, Google from your Google Play order history. Nothing in these Terms limits any right of withdrawal or refund that the law of your country grants you as a consumer.

4. Your photos

The photos you scan remain yours. You give us only the permission needed to send each photo to the AI service and show you the answer, for the sole purpose of providing the app to you. We do not keep your photos on any server of ours, and we do not use them for any other purpose.

You confirm that you have the right to use the photos you scan, and you are responsible for them. Do not scan photos of people who have not agreed to it.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

6. Our rights

The app, the Dog Identifier name and logo, and everything we create for the app belong to Wellcode or to its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app on the devices you own or control, in line with these Terms and with the rules of the store you downloaded it from.

You can share the answers you get, for example with the share button in the app, for personal and non-commercial purposes. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the app without owing you anything for it.

7. Third-party services

The app relies on others: an AI service run by Google to analyse photos, and the App Store or Google Play to sell the subscription. When you buy through a store, its own terms also apply. We are not responsible for services we do not operate.

8. Availability and changes to the app

The app needs an internet connection to identify a dog. We work to keep it available, but we cannot promise that it will always work or be free of errors: the AI service may be busy or unavailable at times. We may change, add or remove features, and change the AI models the app uses. If we remove a feature that is part of Pro, or decide to discontinue the app, we will tell you in advance.

9. Liability

The app is provided "as is", with the care that can reasonably be expected from a small software company. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for loss of profit, for the loss of a history kept on your device, or for decisions you make on the basis of the answers the app gives (see section 1).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law — including the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

10. Ending the relationship

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription: cancel that with the store you bought it from (section 3). We may stop providing the app to you if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, or if we are required to by law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will publish the new version on this page with its date. If the changes are significant, we will also tell you in the app before they take effect. If you do not agree with the new Terms, you can stop using the app and cancel your subscription.

12. Apple App Store

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, the following also applies:

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim before the courts of the place where you live. Otherwise, the courts of Reggio Emilia, Italy, have exclusive jurisdiction.

If something goes wrong, please write to us first: most problems can be solved quickly that way.
